Measuring the influence of ISEA can be split to indicators of demand and indicators of impact.

Indicators of demand include the demand for researchers from ISEA as a recognized authority in professional national and international conferences, recognized authors in professional journals. These researchers also regularly appear in radio and television in news and discussion programs. We must not forget intense traffic on the ISEA website generated by employees of the state administration, journalists, politicians and students. Other indicators of interest and demand include frequent consultations requested by high state officials and politicians, as well as by ministries and governmental departments. All this helps create positive environment for implementing ideas and recommendations of ISEA.

Indicators of the influence of ISEA and results of advocating include the fact that recommendations formulated by experts from ISEA are reflected in government documents. Among successes we can count reform proposal for a higher education system– White Book of Tertiary Education and reform proposal Financial Aid to Students. Experts from ISEA contributed significantly to the preparation of both materials, which were also discussed by the government. It is worth mentioning that both proposals were very positively evaluated also by an independent expert team from OECD. Audit of OECD states: “In our opinion the scheme of student support is well-designed in all aspects and it is in accordance with the best international practice”. The work of the project team lead by members of ISEA was also assessed by the Ministry of the Interior as an example of good practice of engaging the public in preparation of government documents. And finally, the persisting demand for latest publications of ISEA “Analysis of Corruption Environment in the CR” and “Citizens in Politics” is also a proof that the public is interested in analyses and recommendations formulated by the expert team of ISEA.

It has become a matter of course that researchers from ISEA are quoted and their materials are used also in various “policy studies”, most recently for example in a study by McKinsey & Company “Worsening performance of Czech primary and secondary education system: facts and solution”, in a study by the Czech Banking Association “Selected problems and outlook for the Czech labor market”, as well as “Final report of subgroups of the National Economic Council for competitiveness and support for businesses”.

Every year members of ISEA are contacted by students who request consultation for their bachelor and diploma theses and use studies and analyses from ISEA, which are often quoted in their works. The impact on the young generation, which is about to enter the labor market and on their future carriers is also a significant factor for the activities of our think-tank within the public sector and therefore members of ISEA take part in student meetings and discussions.
