Organizational structure

After 10 years it was necessary to strengthen the research part of ISEA and change also the governing bodies, therefore the general assembly approved new Articles of ISEA (Stanovy).

New bodies are:

Institute Council


The Institute Council is an advisory body of the Institute. The members of the Institute and its bodies consult with the members of the Council conceptual questions with Institute-wide relevance and its overall direction. In particular the Council is a source of information, concepts and ideas for the members of the Institute and bodies of the Institute, create multi-disciplinary network of experts, recommend their research involvement in projects, formulate new research topics, and recommend research and professional activities of the Institute. In accordance with the Articles, goals and mission of the Institute the Council proposes for the General Assembly the concept of further development of the Institute and involvement in various projects. The Council decided whether the Institute participates in Centers of Excellence and whether the Institute is to be a member in international organizations. The Council proposes new grant projects, contracts for international cooperation of the Institute, contracts for cooperation with the institutions in the Czech Republic and it recommends them to the General Assembly for approval.

President

He is a statutory body of the Institute, who manages its activities between General Assemblies and fulfills tasks requested by the General Assembly or the Institute Council. President acts on behalf of the Institute and thus represents it. He is obliged to inform about his decisions the members of the Institute during the next General Assembly. The President is responsible to the General Assembly. In the name of the Institute the President submits grant proposals, projects and research projects discussed by the Institute council.

Executive director

The Executive Director of the Institute is in particular responsible for the organization and standard activities within the Institute. She is the knowledge manager of the Institute, takes part in forming of work groups, expert networks and project teams. She is the head of the organization towards the employees of the Institute. The Executive Director is responsible for proper bookkeeping and accounting. She provides service for the President of the Institute, Institute Council, General Assembly, heads of projects, with whom she cooperates. The Executive Director is a member of the Institute Council.

Inspektor

Inspector is a control body of the Institute. Inspector is appointed for five years by the General Assembly. The Inspector examines annual balancing of books, controls Institute’s books and use of financial resources of the Institute, in particular financial resources from grants and subsidies.

General Assembly

General Assembly is the highest body within the Institute and it consists of all members of the Institute. General Assembly makes decision in all important matters related to the Institute as a whole, in particular it approves general strategy and aims for the following period, plan of activities of the Institute, annual report, balancing of books, internal regulations of the Institute, budget, al obligations of the Institute, except for obligations following from daily standard of the Institute.

Institute Council

Experts, researchers and members of ISEA consult the advisors for strategic questions in the Institute Council issues related to the Institute as a whole and its overall direction. The Institute Council is a source of information, concepts and ideas, formulates new research topics, and recommends research and professional activities.

Members of the Institute Council Jiří Večerník, Petr Matějů and Ondřej Schneider have been for a long time leaders in quotation statistics for Czech sociologists and economists. Another prestigious appreciation of the members of ISEA is a French academic order awarded to Jiří Večerník. Jiří Večerník also cooperated with the OECD, ILO (International Labor Organization) and with the European Commission in the area of labor market and social politics. Most recently he published a book about the Czech society in the beginning of the 21st century. Petr Matějů was chosen to take part in a very prestigious program of the Fulbright Foundation The Fulbright New Century Scholars, where he worked for over a year, together with thirty other experts and creators of policies on education, on a project Higher Education in the 21st Century: Access and Equity, whose main goal was to formulate recommendations leading to higher participation in tertiary education and equal chances of obtaining university education. Ivo Možný is one of the leading Czech sociologists, he is the founder and also the first dean of the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk’s University. Jana Straková is a recognized expert on regional schooling, she was appointed by the prime minister to become representative for inclusive education. One of the younger researchers in ISEA is Michael L. Smith, who has become a respected expert in the research of corruption and politics of local referenda. Tomáš Jelínek is the executive director of Donath Business & Media, which, among other things, provides consultations in the area of communication. Within ISEA Mr. Jelínek focuses on the issues of social policy and financing of the higher education. He has extensive experience from public administration, where he worked as advisor for the Minister of Economy, later as economic expert in the Office of the President of the Czech Republic.
